Server is out of Date

Version 12 Users. Have you recently downloaded the Partner/Xpress update 12.1.6, and received the following error: The Pastel Version on the Server is out of Date

One of my clients recently experienced this, after installing on a brand new machine.  After a lot of troubleshooting, uninstalling, reinstalling, and a lot back and forth with Pastel Support, I have finally received a couple of solutions. I would like to share the first one with you.  Should this not work, I have a second solution (which entails emailing an attachment).

Please follow the below steps if you receive the message that The Pastel Version on the Server is out of Date:

• Go to ‘Start – All Programs – Accessories – Run’.
• Type (or copy and paste) the below in the window provided, you may refer to the screen shot below.

Msiexec /i {02788CFF-51EF-493C-A2ED-5C6636257C26} REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=vomus

• Select the ‘OK’ option, the error message should be cleared.

Should this not work, as mentioned, please contact me by posting a reply to this blog  and I’ll email you an attachment with further instructions.

Remember, if you’re not the person responsible for your Pastel/Network environment, be sure to check with the powers that be before you do anything.  And always, always backup first.  When in doubt, call Sage Pastel Customer Care or your Sage Pastel Consultant before doing anything you’re unsure of.

    Hi steve Im using pastel partner 1406 and the dialog box that pops up says I must upgrade to 1414. i tried your first solution but it gives me a dialog box that says This action is only valid for products that are currently installed. please assist

    Having issues of going over from version 12.1.4 to 12.1.6.

    My Pastel version when opening is saying 12.1.4 but my update version on programs is saying 12.1.6

    I’m running into the same problem as Schalk – though server version is given as 1214, local version is 1405.

      It seems your problem is slightly different, ie: your getting messages regarding 2 different versions (12 and 14).

      I’ll send you a mail, detailing what you can try. If this doesn’t work, contact me (my details are on my email), and we can try a teamviewer session.

    I have just installed 14.07 and have the same problem:
    The pastel version is out of date.
    Server Version: 1407
    Local Version: 14.11
    Please upgrade to the latest ve3rsion before continuing.
    Please help…. How do I do that?
    I have installed Pervasive V10 SP3 for workgroups

    It gave me an error: This action is only valid for products that are currently installed.
    I have also tried to reinstall pastel.
    Any suggestions which I can try?

      Yes it can. If you have an Active Business Care Licence with Pastel, you arte able to download the 12.1.6 update, and run it.

      If you are still having difficulty, please mail me directly (steve@e2e.co.za), so that we can have a look at the problem. Bear in mind, each environment is different, so what resolves the issue for 1 person, might not resolve your issue.

    Now have this problem on all my installs on my PC: tried V14.0.7 and V12.1.4 and everything. Pastel can think off. It picks up somewhere on my Machine that the server version is 8224. What ever I install it shows the local version as the install number i.e. 1407 or 1214 It seems there is a key or a file that contains this 8224 as a value. The machine is a local server stand alone.

    2 days of hell and this site deletes this whole text cause I didn’t get the security code incorrect…. 1…2…3…4…5…6….

    As I said before….

    I have been struggling for 2 days to get the client to open Pastel Partner 14 to open. Ver 10 of Pervasive installed. First Error 53… somehow that disappeared. The error 20 to do with registration. Registration sorted and still same error. Advised by call centre to reload Pastel on client. Same error. Advised to reinstall Pervasive. Same error. Advised to switch off all anti virus and firewall. Same error. Advised to uninstall Pervasive 10 and load pervasive 9. Now a similar error to what your article started with except it says
    Server Version 1404
    Local Version 1401

    Ran your fix suggested Msiexec /i {02788CFF-51EF-493C-A2ED-5C6636257C26} REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=vomus
    and get this error
    This action is only valid for products that are currently installed

    Please help with my blood pressure … that is …offer a solution that can get this working.

      If you have an active Business Care Licence with Pastel, the build should be downloaded automatically.

      Check that your Sage Connected services is started, and that you have internet connectivity. Also make sure that your anti virus is not blocking any downloads.

      If it doesn’t download automatically, call Pastel Support on 011304300. Give them your Base Serial Number and ask them to make sure 12.1.6 is released for you.

    Sorry to intrude but I have a different issue – I was running Pastel V12.1.4 on both pc’s – the one updated to V12.1.6 on its own some how (I believe) but the other refuses to update in any way, form or manner. I am unsure where to even obtain this update from so that both pc’s could be in sync. Please assist if you can.

      Hi Mia

      On the machine that has already been updated to 12.1.6, open the Registration folder. It will be in Pastel12Custom. Inside the registration folder, will be a folder called Updates, and inside there will be a file called PartnerV12.1.6fromV12.1.4.exe.

      Copy that file into the Updates folder on the PC that is still running 12.1.4. If the Updates folder doesn’t exist, create it. Once it’s in there, you can just double click on it, and the update should run. Make sure that Pastel is closed.
